Is Our Heart Prickly or Filled with The Spirit?

Genesis 6:6 (NASB)
 The LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth,
and He was grieved in His Heart.
James 4:8-9
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you
Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts,  you double-minded.
Psalm 51:10-13
Create in me a clean heart, O God,
And renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Do not cast me away from Your presence
And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of Your salvation
And sustain me with a willing spirit.
Then I will teach transgressors Your ways,
And sinners will be converted to You.
Hebrews 10: 16
"THIS IS THE COVENANT THAT I WILL MAKE WITH THEM AFTER THOSE DAYS, SAYS THE LORD: I WILL PUT MY LAWS UPON THEIR HEART,  AND ON THEIR MIND I WILL WRITE THEM,"
Hebrews 10: 19-22
Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He inaugurated for us through the veil, that is, His flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
Hebrews 13: 8-9
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Do not be carried away by varied and strange teachings; for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace,....
1 Peter 3: 4
but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God.
1 Peter 3: 15
but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence;
1 John 3: 21 Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God;
Revelation 2: 23
...and all the churches will know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts; and I will give to each one of you according to your deeds.

Do We Treat God like He is Just Another one of our Relatives or Friends?

 Re-posted from 6-2010
Acts 17:27 NASB
I walked outside this morning and heard my Mother's wind chimes.
I said, "Hello Mother."
I thought about my favorite niece and great niece who are on a road trip down Route 66.
The thought came to me.
Do we treat God like He is just another one of our relatives or friends?
Do we spend time with Him only when it is convenient for us?
Do we go to scheduled worship services so we can say," okay I did my duty for this week?"
Do we pray only when we feel so guilty that we cannot stand it anymore or when we need something?
Subconsciously we say okay, "I'll pray so I can ease my conscience."
Why is it that we only have time for God when it is convenient for us?
Acts 17:24-30
"The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands;
nor is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all people life and breath and all things;
and He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation,
that they world seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us;"
for in Him we live and move and exist, as even some of your own poets have said, 'For we also are His children.'
"Being then the children of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by the art and thought of man."
"Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent,"
Let us aspire to spend more time with our Heavenly Father and our earthly family and friends.

Open Our Eyes that We May See God

2 Kings 6:16-17
Open our eyes Lord that we may see the armies of horses and chariots of fire all around us, just as they were all around Elisha.
Open our eyes to satan so that we may see his tricks.
Satan puts blinders on us in many different forms.
He blinds us with too much to do in the name of work, rest, relaxation and recreation.
We neglect You.
He blinds us with problems with our children, families and friends.
We fail to see Your might and power.
We fail to praise and honor You.
He blinds us with health issues and steals our energy so we run out steam.
We do not think we can service You.
He blinds us to put him first on our list.
Then all of the things of the world will be ours .......
We put You last on our list, or not at all.
Open our eyes Oh Lord,  that we may see that You will defeat satan if we only stand firm and pray as Elisha did.
Open our eyes Lord that we may see the armies of horses and chariots of fire all around us...
Ephesians 6: 12-13
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers,  against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in heavenly places.
Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.
Have a Blessed Day.

Clean Baked on Grime Tutorial

I bake almost all of my meat.
I always use a little coconut oil on my meat to make it tender.
I had to learn how to clean this burned on grime off without scrubbing my knuckles off.
Thanks for coming.

Spring Has Returned to The Big Country

This post is adapted from one
I posted on 5-2-2010
Good intentions that never get accomplished are not worth much.
Things that we love and cherish get pushed to the back of the closet.
There they lie, forgotten until we finally have to clean that closet out and do something with all those things that we have neglected for so long.
One thing for sure, God's intentions are timely and stand firm and true.
He keeps His promises and I am thankful that He is not like me with "good intentions" that never come to fruition.
Genesis 1:14(NASB)
"Then God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years;"
I am thankful that God gave us the seasons of the years and the seasons of our lives.
This time of the year I am reminded of my Mother who loved the Spring so very much.
She really struggled with Winter.
She did not like Winter when everything was brown and dead.
She came alive in Spring when she could be outside and breath the fresh air.
She loved Spring so much that she left this world on April 7, 2007.
Ironically, it was snowing that morning.
Spring brings a renewal to the earth and my soul.
 It reminds me that God is still in control.
Thank you Father for Spring and the reminder of your might and power.
Jeremiah 10:6 (NASB)
"There is none like You, O LORD;
 You are great,
 and great is Your name in might."
 Amen

God Makes the Dawn and the Sunset Shout for Joy

Psalm 65:5-8
By awesome deeds You answer us in righteousness,
O God of our salvation,
You who are the trust of all the ends of the
earth and of the farthest sea;
Who establishes the mountains by His strength,
Being girded with might;
Who stills the roaring of the seas,
The roaring of their waves,
And the tumult of the peoples.
They who dwell in the ends of the earth stand in Awe of Your signs;
You make the dawn and the sunset shout for joy.
God made this beautiful sunset shout for joy tonight.
It made my heart shout for joy to see it.
I stand in complete Awe.
Thank you All Mighty God.

The Devil Roars Around Like a Lion

1 Peter 5:6-11
Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God,
that He may exalt you at the proper time,
casting all your anxiety on Him,
because He cares for you.
Be of sober spirit, be on the alert Your adversary, the devil,
prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
But resist him, firm in your faith,
knowing that the same experiences of suffering
are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world.
After you have suffered for a little while,
the God of all grace,
who called you to His eternal glory in Christ,
will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you.
To Him be dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Winter Slips into Spring But it Still Feels Like Winter.

This was originally posted 2-23-2010.  I adapted it today.
There is room at the Inn.
The birds have gone south for the Winter.
What has happened to the time?  It was Fall just yesterday.
 Now Winter has come and Spring is on the way.
Spring is near but it is still  blistery cold, rainy weather.
The birds are coming back.
The wind has been howling. First it goes South and then it comes back toward the North.
Then it comes from the East to the West.
Next it comes back from the West to the North, South, East and back to the West.
John 3: 8 NASB "The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit."
What is the scripture that says God rides the wind?

Psalm 18: 10
He rode upon a cherub and flew:
And He sped upon the wings of the wind.
Have you seen Him? It moves so fast it is hard to imagine that He is riding on high.

What God Has Taught Me Part 2

What has God taught me through waiting?
Waiting is the hardest for me. I want it and I want it now.
Jude 1: 21(NASB) keep yourselves in the love of God,  waiting anxiously for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life.  I have learned that if I will just be still and know that God is in control everything will work out for the best. Romans 8:28.
What has God taught me through illness?
God has taught me that there is more to life than the everyday get it done list. People are the most important thing and not what we get done today.
James 5: 14 (NASB) Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord;
What has God taught me from disappointment?
Oh this one hurts. Like I said about failure, God works out the details and things work out like they should.
What have I learned from my family, my church, my relationships, my small group, and my critics?
That we are all human and we have to give each other a break.
Ephesians 4: 2 sit all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love,
ROMANS 8:28

What Has God Taught Me? Part 1

    First posted 11-17-2008 Revised 3-5-2012
What has God taught me from failure?
That failure often turns out to be the greatest blessing. Like the time I thought I was hired to teach at one school and found out that I was not.  If I had been, I would have missed out on the job at the school where I have been teaching the last nineteen years.  It was were God knew I needed to be. Doing exactly what He wanted me to do.
What has God taught me from a lack of money?
Money is over rated. When we have more than enough we tend to trust in ourselves and the abundance of money. When there is not enough to go around we should trust God to provide what we need and He does. Just as He tells us He will. Having traveled to Zambia, Africa twice, I realize we have very few needs, most everything is a want.
Hebrews 13:5(NASB) Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, "I WILL NEVER DESERT YOU, NOR WILL I EVER FORSAKE YOU,"
What has God taught me from pain or sorrow or depression?
Pain can stop one dead in their tracks. With a severe pain one soon learns that there are a lot of things that will wait. It can lay you flat on your back and you have no where to look but up. So God becomes your best friend. Revelation 21:4(NASB)  and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will now longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first thing have passed away."
Sorrow brings me to my knees because my heart is so heavy I can no longer stand. My head bows low but I soon realize that God is the only way out of this sorrow. He can lift my heart back to where it allows me to stand again.
2 Corinthians 7:10 (NASB) For the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation, but the sorrow of the world produces death.
Depression-I hate depression but I have learned how to control it so it doesn't rear it's ugly head like it used to. I believe depression can sometimes be a choice like an addiction. It is an escape. I also believe that certain things in our diet can cause depression. Like sugar and wheat. Sugar and wheat really causes me to slip in to an ugly depression. People need to do everything they can to break that addiction to depression. Seek good quality help. Change their diet. Seek God to help you out.

Which way did The Peace that Passes all Understanding go?

The reason I decided to re-post this;
I am again dealing with computer issues.
How very much I have come to depend on a computer.
Are you that way too?
     Does your computer steal your peace? Mine does sometimes.
If it is not the computer it is other issues that sneak in to steal my peace.
I spent yesterday trying to get my laptop to work. I could not, so I took in today to see if someone who knows far more than I do can fix it.
    "The Geek Squad."  If they can't fix it, no one can. We will see and hopefully I will still have all my files that I did not have backed up. There is a lesson to be learned here.
It seems that the peace that passes all understanding keeps trying to escape me as day to day life happens.
     Last time I wrote about my computer dilemma. (That was in 2008.)
Just exactly as promised, Anthony came on Friday and brought a brand new boxed laptop computer to replace the previous brand new laptop that had already been worked on twice. He worked two hours getting it set up and programmed like I wanted it. He set it up so I could use my desktop programs remotely through my new laptop. This was perfect. He showed me a few things and left.
     After he left, I used it for about five minutes and jumped up to get ready for a wedding. I turned the computer off because we were to be gone several hours.
     About 9:30 I tried to turn the computer on to read the e-mail. Nothing would happen. It would not turn on. I thought maybe I didn't plug it in good enough to charge it. So I checked everything and plugged it in to charge overnight, feeling confident that it would start right up in the morning.
     Early the next morning my husband and I were leaving town to celebrate our anniversary at a relaxing, peaceful Bed and Breakfast on the Brazos River.
I turned the computer on to check the e-mail. Rather I tried to turn it on and nothing happened. I tried and tried everything I could think of but nothing would turn it on.
     So we hung around until the nameless electronics store opened. We took the second brand new laptop computer back to get our money back. Anthony said "I can test it and see if I can fix it." My husband said. "NO, I want a refund." The manager said, "We can give you another one just like it." My husband and I both said "NO" at the same time.
     He said, "Anthony can help you pick out the one you want. Get whatever you want." Wow, what temptation to go and pick out the most expensive one they had and teach them to sell defective products.
     Oh, that would not be the christian thing to do at all. Actually, there was one that we had almost bought to start with but it cost three hundred dollars more than the one we bought. We went and looked at it. It was marked down to the same price that we paid for the first one.
We said, "We will try this one." It is actually a more expensive and a better model than the first one we bought. It seems to be working really well. Let's hope and pray that it keeps up the good work.
     What is the lesson to be learned in this. Keep your cool and work with people. They are just trying to do their job and sometimes things crumble for them just as they do for us.
     God will see us through anything and everything. He wants us to come through the storm with our light shinning. God doesn't want us to blow our light out so we come through the storm in the dark.

ISAIAH 55:8-9
"FOR MY THOUGHTS ARE NOT YOUR THOUGHTS,
NOR ARE YOUR WAYS MY WAYS,
DECLARES THE LORD.
FOR AS THE HEAVENS ARE HIGHER THAT THE EARTH,
SO ARE MY WAYS HIGHER THAN YOUR WAYS
AND MY THOUGHTS THAN YOUR THOUGHTS."

Until next time. Romans 8:28

Which way did The Peace that Passes all Understanding go?

The reason I decided to re-post this;
I am again dealing with computer issues.
How very much I have come to depend on a computer.
Are you that way too?
     Does your computer steal your peace? Mine does sometimes.
If it is not the computer it is other issues that sneak in to steal my peace.
