Happy New Year 2012

I like to say 2012
Twenty Twelve
I like the sound of 2012
I always said 2011
Two Thousand Eleven.
Not, Twenty Eleven.
2010
Two Thousand Ten
Not, Twenty Ten.
You get the idea.
I just cannot say Two Thousand Twelve.
It just does not roll right.
2012 rolls right
2012 seems right.
2012 feels right.
I think that 2012 will be a great year.
Proverbs 14:13
There is a way which seems right to a man,
But its end is the way of death.
Let us make this year right with God.

WHAT A YEAR 2011 WAS

1-2-2011
What A Year 2011 Was
I have great intentions to blog on a regular bases.
Where do the intentions go?
I have great intentions to teach the Gospel to many people.
I have great intentions to visit the sick.
Where have those intentions gone.
I have many good intentions to get more done to our home.
Where do the intentions go?
I look back over 2011 and I realize that many good intentions have gone undone.
However, It's A Wonderful Life.
Rather than focusing on the intentions that never got done, I must say I did get somethings done and I will strive to do more for the year 2012.
It has started out to be a great year.
We had great friends in our home for a nice meal and a blessed visit on Thursday and Friday night.
Saturday night we had good food and fellowship with some of our church family.
Then as we were preparing to return home, Tommy received a call from his cousin's wife to tell us that his Aunt had been moved to Hospice.
They were nearly to the hospital.
We gathered our things and headed to the hospital at 9:30 p.m. instead of going home to bed.
We asked the nurse which room Tommy's aunt was in.
She replied "7103".
My heart sank and my eyes grew big and round.
I swallowed hard as we walked down the hall past the elevators.
I had a flood of memories fly through my mind. I could see the look on my Mom's face as she was rolled into that very same room on the 3rd day of April 2007.
Hospice!! What kind of word is that?
It sounds like death to me.
It feels like death to me.
It means death to me.
Just a month earlier we had been to the same hospital, on the same floor but fortunately not the same room.
Tommy's cousin's wife's father was there.
A different cousin and a different wife. But from the same blood line.
Good intentions, what does that mean.
It means you do what you have to do when you have to do it.
This particular night, six people came home with us at 12:30 A.M
We scrambled to make beds for each of them.
Tommy pulled the travel trailer in the yard and I gathered bedding to accommodate the young family with three small children.
Yes, we had to rearrange our life somewhat. The family whose Mom, Grandmother and Great Grandmother was just placed in Hospice had to rearrange their life a great lot.
Instead of celebrating a late Christmas, they loaded up in two cars and drove 6 hours to say Good-Bye the the Matriarch of the family.
She died exactly a week after she went to Hospice. Ironically at 12:30 A.M.
Yes Hospice means death but it does not mean the Victor.
Only Jesus Christ is the Victor and Victory over death.

I Corinthians 15:55
O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR VICTORY? O DEATH, WHERE IS YOUR STING?
Verse 56
The sting  of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law;
Verse 57
but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Verse 58
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.

HAPPINESS

What is happiness?
Is it the material  things we have?
Is it the friends we have?
Is it our families?  Is it good health?
True happiness is joy.
Joy does not come from our circumstances.
It comes from within our soul.
Job 5:17
"Behold, how happy is the man whom God reproves,
So do not despise the discipline of the Almighty.
Psalm 51:12
Restore to me the joy of
Your salvation
And sustain me with a willing spirit.

Why do We Need Organization in Our Lives?

We were expecting the delivery of a new King size bed.
Tommy could not run his bulldozer one rainy day that week, so we decided it would be the perfect day to move our bed to the guest room.

This made for perfect timing to move the old bed out to make room for the new bed.
I have been trying to get our home organized.
I have neglected organizing our home for too long.
First we had to move the double sized bed out of the guest room.
It went in the living room, where it could not stay.
We moved the queen sized bed in to the guest bedroom.
The thought came to me more than once that all I am doing is just moving stuff from one room to the next with out dealing with it.
We have to move the old out to make room for what is good and right.

WHAT IS PERPETUAL CARE?

Maybe the Jack Rabbit is contemplating  the meaning of perpetual care.
The definition in Webster's dictionary is:
1. lasting or enduring forever or for an indefinitely long time; eternal; permanent.
I went to do some perpetual care on my parents, grandmother and brother's graves today.
I found the graves in a very unkempt manner.
I was upset because someone is supposed to keep the plot neat and tidy.
It was included in the burial plan.
My Mother was the one who made sure the perpetual care was lasting, enduring forever and for an indefinitely long time.
However, she cannot make sure it is done in an eternally or permanently way.
She cannot make sure it is done at all since she has left this world.
It dawned on me that the fact is, that job has been passed on to me.
Now it is up to me to see that the perpetual care of my family's grave sites gets done.
The truth is that we are human and we fail.

God is not human and He never fails us.
He is our Perpetual Care taker.
He has promised us that He will take care of us and He has.

John 3:16

""For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life."
What an awesome promise of perpetual care?
We do not have to be concerned with whether someone
will take care of us.
We have God's promise that He has taken care of our perpetual care.
He gave His only Son to accomplish this.
Jesus is our lasting and enduring care.
Jesus will be our care forever, for an indefinitely long time; for eternity; and permanently.
Rest in His promises
The Peace That Passes all Understanding in a world gone wild.
Romans 8:28

The Peace That Passes All Understanding: Some Adjustments to my Blog and Attitude.

Some Adjustments to my Blog and Attitude.

Sometimes we just have to adjust things.
I  adjusted  my blog this morning.
Tell me what you think.
Does it look better or does it still need some adjusting?
We all need to adjust our attitude sometimes.
We may need to adjust how we treat God.
We may need to adjust how we treat others.
We may need to adjust how we treat ourselves.
Whatever it is that we need to adjust, let us pray to have our eyes opened.

Open Our Eyes that We May See

re-posted 3-23-2012

2 Kings 6:16-17
Open our eyes Lord that we may see the armies of horses and chariots of fire all around us,
just as they were all around Elisha.
Open our eyes to satan so that we may see his tricks.
Satan puts blinders on us in many different forms.
He blinds us with too much to do in the name of work,
 rest, relaxation and recreation.
We neglect You.
He blinds us with problems with our children,
families and friends.
We fail to see Your might and power.
We fail to praise and honor You.
He blinds us with health issues and steals our energy so we run out steam.
We do not think we can service You.
He blinds us to put him first on our list.
Then all of the things of the world will be ours .......
We put You last on our list, or not at all.
Open our eyes Oh Lord,
that we may see that You will defeat satan
if we only stand firm and pray as Elisha did.
Open our eyes Lord that we may see the armies of horses and chariots of fire all around us...
Ephesians 6: 12-13
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood,
 but against the rulers,
against the powers,
against the world forces of this darkness,
against the spiritual forces of wickedness in heavenly places.
Therefore, take up the full armor of God,
so that you will be able to resist in the evil day,
and having done everything,
to stand firm.
Have a Blessed Day.

Do We treat God Like He is Just Another one of our Loved Ones????

Adapted and Reposted 3-26-2011
Acts 17:27
I walked outside this morning and heard my Mother's wind chimes.
I said, "Hello Mother."
I thought about my favorite niece and great niece who are on a road trip down Route 66.
The thought came to me.
Do we treat God like He is just another one of our relatives or friends?
Do we spend time with Him only when it is convenient for us?
Do we go to scheduled worship services so we can say," okay I did my duty for this week.?"
Do we pray only when we feel so guilty that we cannot stand it anymore or when we need something?
Subconsciously we say okay, "I'll pray so I can ease my conscience."
Why is it that we only have time for God when it is convenient for us?
Acts 17:24-30
"The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands;
nor is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all people life and breath and all things;
and He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation,
that they world seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us;"
for in Him we live and move and exist, as even some of your own poets have said, 'For we also are His children.'
"Being then the children of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by the art and thought of man."
"Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent,"
Let us aspire to spend more time with our Heavenly Father and our earthly family and friends.

Genesis 1:14

As you noticed I was way late in posting my Winter post. It was actually already well into Spring but I loved the picture and decided to post it anyway.

Life is kind of like this post.
Good intentions that never get accomplished are not worth much.
Things that we love and cherish get pushed to the back of the closet.
There they lie, forgotten until we finally have to clean that closet out and do something with all those things that we have neglected for so long.
One thing for sure, God's intentions are timely and stand firm and true.
He keeps His promises and I am thankful that He is not like me with "good intentions" that never come to fruition.
"Then God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years;"
I am thankful that God gave us the seasons of the years and the seasons of our lives.
This time of the year I am reminded of my Mother who loved the Spring so very much.
She really struggled with Winter. She did not like Winter when everything was brown and dead. She came alive in Spring when she could be outside and breath the fresh air.
She loved Spring so much that she left this world on April 7, 2007.
Ironically, it was snowing that morning.
Spring brings a renewal to the earth and my soul.
It reminds me that God is still in control.
Thank you Father for Spring and the reminder of your might and power.
Jeremiah 10:6
"There is none like You, O LORD;
 You are great,
and great is Your name in might."

Winter Comes to the Big Country

There is room at the Inn.

The birds have gone south for the Winter.
What has happened to the time. It was Fall just yesterday. Now Winter has come and Spring is here.
Spring came in with blistery cold, rainy, snowy weather.
The birds have come back.

The wind is howling. First it goes South and then it comes back North. Then it comes from the East to the West. Next it comes back from the West to the North, South, East and back to the West.

What is the scripture that says God rides the wind?

Have you seen Him? It moves so fast it is hard to imagen that He is riding on high.

Winter Comes to the Big Country

There is room at the Inn.

The birds have gone south for the Winter.
What has happened to the time. It was Fall just yesterday. Now Winter has come and Spring is here.

FALLL COMES TO THE BIG COUNTRY 11-7-2009

It is hard to believe that Fall is in full bloom here. We drove out south of town yesterday and saw some beautiful colors of Fall in this area.
As I look at them I am reminded of the power and might of The Almighty God whom we serve.

As I got up yesterday and moved around I realized I just didn't feel right. I felt cranky and irritable. I just started to pray and all I could get out was Father.....I heard a voice in my mind that said "Shhhhhhhhhhhhh" "Just be still..........." I tried to be still but the thoughts wanted to fly in and out of my mind. Everytime I heard, "Just be still......" Then finally I heard "Just be still and know that I am God. Nothing is impossible for me. I am the Almighty God. Just be still."

You know what? It worked, before long I was experiencing

the Peace that Passes all Understanding.

"Shhhhhhh, Let's just be still this week and really listen to the voice of God in His word and in our hearts.

Peace to you this week.

Where has the time gone?

I can't believe it has been so long since I posted. School started and now a semester is gone. We are nearly finished with January 2009. Can you believe that?
I have so many things I want to do and yet I just keep getting behind.
My main commitment for the time being is to read through the Bible in 365 days. That means I have to stay commented to read every day without fail. Last year I read the entire Bible in 90 days. That was a real commitment! It sure felt good when I completed it. It turned out that I completed it on 4-07-08, which was exactly one year to the day when my Mom had died.
I am also studying the Purpose Driven Life book and a Daily Devo that Linda gave me for Christmas.
I have started a bucket list.
My Number One Bucket List
To make God's will my will. I want to completely and wholly submit my will to His will.
I got an embroidery machine for Christmas. I am slowly learning how to use it. The thing is the machine is much smarter than I am. But that can be a good thing. When I see the cute little face with a tear on the screen I know that I have made a mistake. He gladly tells me what I need to do to correct it.
We are prayerfully planning my third trip and Tommy's fourth trip to Zambia. How blessed is that? I prayed to go one time and now we are hoping to go a third time. That is the best thing I have ever done in my life.
Maybe I will post my bucket list soon. I am still adding to it. Some of the things I have accomplished. Some I am still thinking of.

Until the next time. Romans 8:28 and following.

WHAT GOD HAS TAUGHT ME!

    First posted 11-17-2008 Revised 3-5-2012
What has God taught me from failure?
That failure often turns out to be the greatest blessing. Like the time I thought I was hired to teach at one school and found out that I was not.  If I had been, I would have missed out on the job at the school where I have been teaching the last nineteen years.  It was were God knew I needed to be. Doing exactly what He wanted me to do.
What has God taught me from a lack of money?
Money is over rated. When we have more than enough we tend to trust in ourselves and the abundance of money. When there is not enough to go around we should trust God to provide what we need and He does. Just as He tells us He will. Having traveled to Zambia, Africa twice, I realize we have very few needs, most everything is a want. Hebrews 13:5(NASB) Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, "I WILL NEVER DESERT YOU, NOR WILL I EVER FORSAKE YOU,"
What has God taught me from pain or sorrow or depression?
Pain can stop one dead in their tracks. With a severe pain one soon learns that there are a lot of things that will wait. It can lay you flat on your back and you have no where to look but up. So God becomes your best friend. Revelation 21:4(NASB)  and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will now longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first thing have passed away."
Sorrow brings me to my knees because my heart is so heavy I can no longer stand. My head bows low but I soon realize that God is the only way out of this sorrow. He can lift my heart back to where it allows me to stand again. 2 Corinthians 7:10 (NASB) For the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation, but the sorrow of the world produces death.
Depression-I hate depression but I have learned how to control it so it doesn't rear it's ugly head like it used to. I believe depression can sometimes be a choice like an addiction. It is an escape. I also believe that certain things in our diet can cause depression. Like sugar and wheat. Sugar and wheat really causes me to slip in to an ugly depression. People need to do everything they can to break that addiction to depression. Seek good quality help. Change their diet. Seek God to help you out.
What has God taught me through waiting?
Waiting is the hardest for me. I want it and I want it now.Jude 1: 21(NASB) keep yourselves in the love of God,  waiting anxiously for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life.  I have learned that if I will just be still and know that God is in control everything will work out for the best. Romans 8:28.
What has God taught me through illness?
God has taught me that there is more to life than the everyday get it done list. People are the most important thing and not what we get done today. James 5: 14 (NASB) Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord;
What has God taught me from disappointment?
Oh this one hurts. Like I said about failure, God works out the details and things work out like they should.
What have I learned from my family, my church, my relationships, my small group, and my critics?
That we are all human and we have to give each other a break.Ephesians 4: 2 sit all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love,
ROMANS 8:28

The Beauty of Fall

The Cross on an Egg.
Little Chapel in the Cedars.

What beauty we see as the weather turns cooler and the days grow shorter.
I really enjoying watching the seasons change. We have just enough of the leaves turning to remind us that they will soon fall to the ground. The slight shades or orange and red are pleasing to the eye. What comes next is hard for me. The naked trees are the saddest season for me. It is so like death. Somber and still. However, we know that this too shall pass and the green shades will soon enough return.
Just remember Romans 8:28. I have tried to think of that as we have gone through a difficult time this past week. Just an added trial on top of the other trials we have faced.
No matter what, we know that God is in control and He will win. We just have to figure out how to stay the course and allow Him to do what He needs to do in our life.
There again, I see the trees starting to turn and I realize He will bring them back to life after a season. So I have to believe He will see me through whatever I have to go through.
Just be still and know that He is God. Until next time I will focus on Romans 8:28 and the other scriptures that bring The Peace that Passes all Understanding.

Life gets in the way of The Peace that Passes All Understanding.

Life just seems to get in the way. It sneaks in and steals that perfect peace.

It has been so long since I posted. I think I will get it done every day of two but life happens and it wears me out.

When I last posted school was just getting started and I talked about the twenty-four year olds I have in my class who consume so much of my energy.

We have really become a family in this six-weeks that school has been in session. Where did that six-weeks go? They have learned to respect and love me and I have grown to love and respect them for who they are.

It always amazes me how God hand picks each child to be in my class. At the end of a school year I start praying that God will put the children in my next class that need to be there. I have learned that it is not always the child that needs me, it is sometimes me that needs that particular child.

I learned this lesson early on in my teaching career. The year my Dad was ill and died I had Moses in my class. I do believe he was an angel sent from God to minister to me to get me through a most difficult time in my life. This is when Romans 8:28 is very evident.

Moses was a most sweet Spirit. His smile melted my heart. He was a tiny 3 years old at the time but he had a mature wisdom about him. He started asking me about where my Daddy was. This was on his own, I had not mentioned my Dad to him. Every day he would ask about my Dad. He just seemed to be intrigued about him. He would say, "Do you live with your Dad?" "Where is your Dad?", "How is your Dad?" God sent this little soul to minister to me to help me survive the death of my Dad.

God always sends the right thing into our life to help us through. Maybe it is His most Holy and High word that we read from the scriptures. Maybe it is a precious young Spirit He sends into our lives. Maybe it is a mission trip to Zambia. Maybe it is just a kind word from another person. Maybe He puts on our hearts to go to the Nursing Home to visit a dear sweet sister in Christ who is in her last days of life. Maybe it is a letter in the mail from your son who is in prison. Maybe it is just being thankful that you are able to deal with life as it happens.

NAHUM 1:7

"THE LORD IS GOOD,

A STRONGHOLD IN THE DAY OF TROUBLE,

AND HE KNOWS THOSE WHO TAKE REFUGE IN HIM."

Until next time may we have hope and hang on to the promises that God gives us.
